The Local Supermarket

*A wonderful variety of fresh produce is widely available.

*U.S. as well as local brands for chips, etc. Pringles and other chips come in some unusual flavors are here as well, like barbecued beef heart flavor or rotisserie chicken.
*Finding the salsa was the easy part.Finding corn tortillas was a little bit more difficult.

I don't know if any of you have wondered what our grocery shopping might be like here in Perú, so we thought we would share what we have available to us.

Familiar brands and local brands share the same shelves. The brands we see from the U.S. are typically priced slightly higher than similar local brands, but most of the products of both brands are manufactured in Peru.

The Corner Market

We frequently stop at this corner market on our way home from the office to pick up a missing ingredient for dinner. Sometimes we purchase about 15 cents worth of cilantro for our tacos. 

The Meat and Vegetable Market 

The chicken section -- We bought some hind quarters and the butcher made them boneless, skinless for us in no time at all. Our friend recommends we touch the chicken before we buy it to make sure it is fresh. If it is still warm, it is really fresh. (We didn't touch the chicken)
